Ignition coils
The Honda ignition coil converts the low voltage of the battery into a so-called high voltage. To spark a spark plug, a voltage of 20,000 to 30,000 volts is needed.
Older systems work with 1 coil that is connected to the spark plugs via spark plug wires. Newer engines are often fitted with pin coils. In that case, each spark plug has its own ignition coil. The ignition timing is then determined by the ECU.
A good, strong spark is needed to ignite the mixture supplied through the fuel system and air intake. Your Honda will continue to start and run well with a good ignition coil.
