Honda catalytic converter replacement for more power

Depending on the year of construction of your Honda, you can replace the original catalytic converter with a catalytic converter, sport cat or test pipe. If you do this on a Honda built before 1995, you will generally not be bothered by this at the MOT. All build years above must meet stricter requirements. Chances are that without a catalytic converter you will not pass the MOT.
Now you can put back your original catalytic converter every year before the MOT, but you may not feel like doing that. With a sport or racing catalytic converter, the exhaust gases are still filtered, but can flow more easily because of the open cell structure.
The exhaust gases in your exhaust are measured by ééone or more lambda sensors. These sensors transmit the measured values to your ECU. The computer in your Honda uses this information to keep your engine running properly. Replacing the catalytic converter can cause the values to deviate significantly, causing them to fall outside the margins. This can cause your ECU to show an error code on your dashboard. In most cases this is easily solved with a so-called ‘cell fix’.
